It's "PECKISH like a panda"

_______________

Ricky Gervais is brilliant, as the Brits would say, and I misquoted him earlier. In the bit from A&E's Private Sessions episode on Duran Duran, he asked if they should actually be naming their song "Peckish Like A Panda" (instead of "Hungry Like The Wolf") seeing as how they're all middle-aged. *snarf*

If you go to 7:40 into this clip from YouTube you can see entire goofy segment with wisecracks about their hair, complete with howls of laughter from the band.

The show was a lot of fun last night, despite a brief rainy interlude lasting several songs. Umbrellas and ponchos sprouted, but no one left. Us middle-aged fans are apparently a reasonably hardy bunch.

You can't tell from that shot, but we could actually see where everyone was on the stage, before the umbrellas appeared. And they gave a good show, with surprisingly strong vocals from Mr. Le Bon lasting 2 hours.

Here are some photos of us before it got dark and rainy. In the one of me using the classic cellphone self-portrait pose, I am actually wearing the now loose and baggy (!!!) 1984 concert t-shirt.

Can you believe Simon Le Bon is 49 and has 3 daughters, the oldest of whom is 18?! Also, he's been married to same same woman (!) since 1985. It helps that she's still gorgeous, no doubt. He's also pretty funny, as shown in this 2007 interview in SPIN Magazine. John Taylor has remarried, and to one of the co-founders of Juicy Couture (according to Wikipedia), so their house(s) must be really swanky. Nick Rhodes (nee Bates) has had one wife and was friends with Andy Warhol, which explains why visually he's starting to remind me of Warhol. Roger Taylor has separated from his wife of 20 years (!) so I guess Simon's not safe. (Yes, I've wasted a perfectly beautiful sunny afternoon with temps [and songs] in the 80s by surfing online and organizing my MP3 collection. I am such a dork.)

Oh, and the librarian side of me insists on adding the disclaimer that all of this mental bubblegum was scrounged from the ever reliable (not) Wikipedia.

My handy dandy phone even shoots videos (although I think you may need QuickTime to view the clip of a song from their new CD):

Okay, I am LEAVING THE HOUSE NOW since there's still over 2 hours of daylight left. Duh.
