So yesterday, on my way to pick up Mom, in order to trek out to CT for the baby shower, the B-train (for some unknown and of course, unexplained reason) showed up at my station and I decided to stay on it all the way to Grand Street, instead of opting to transfer @ West 4th Street and wait (endlessly!) for the F train to East Broadway.Alas for me, the walk to Mom's brought me past Doughnut Plant (mmmmm... ) whose food is sublime, but whose website sucks.
Three words: blueberry yeast doughnut
Sheer bliss...

It was gone within 2 blocks.
And this last photo in a phone booth is for scale, for those of you who have not experienced this organic ingredient, closes-when-the-daily-batch-sells-out, caloric extravaganza.
Oh yeah -- the shower: the food was tasty. The folks were pleasant.
I got to stare in fascination at how much my new great-nephew Nicholas had grown in a mere 2 weeks. Watching my mom watch Nicholas (this was their first meeting) was also highly entertaining.

My younger (and therefore trendier) niece has an earlier version of the Samsung Alias phone that I crave, so I got to test drive the keyboard. Sold! I just have to figure out the fine print in the new 2-year service contract before I order it for $50, which is about $150 less (!) than my niece paid for it a year ago.
The only difference between the photos of the phone in yesterday's blog photo and the new model are (a) the case is silver-blue, not champagne, and (b) the keyboard is color-coded slightly differently. Here's a link to the Verizon version.
OK, I should go be late for work now...
